Bibi Sufi Salma Attaullah Sattari - The Hidden Saint

24 April commemorates the urs of Bibi Sufi Salma Attaullah Sattari. Many are unaware of this hidden saint.

Bibi Salma had Persian roots and her family had migrated from Iran after the Revolution and settled in the city of Hyderabad, Pakistan.

After her marriage to Sufi Attaullah in 1973, Bibi Salma became a mureed of Dargah Jhoke Sharif. Within a matter of couple of years, she reached the heights of spirituality that no woman has attained in this day and age.

She originally belonged to a rich family and was accustomed to the finest in everything. However ever since she undertook the journey for truth, people who knew her saw her giving away to charity all that she had. She spent all her time in meditation and forsake all worldly pleasures. She was a very private person and there were a few who knew that she was a dervish. Those who were aware of her sainthood always came to her for help and never left empty handed.

Bibi Salma had vanquished herself to the Lord Almighty. However, in the midst of her passion, she never once forgot her duties as a wife and a mother. Her life as a wife and as a woman is a burning torch of guidance for all women who want to be successful wives and mothers. She proved that a woman can walk steadfastly on the sufi path without neglecting the worldly duties. A woman of strong principles, she always emphasized the importance of prayer, faith and patience, in both spiritual development, and everyday life.

Bibi Salma passed away at the young age of 27, only nine years after taking zikr. In this short period of nine years, she achieved what millions would not attain even after many lifetimes. On April 24 1982, this great personality left the earth to be with The Lord in heavens , and the world was forever poorer of a great Sufi saint.
